We support Moodle in Schools, Colleges and Businesses in the South and South West of England.

Having set up a Moodle environment, the next step might be to help staff to create their own courses so they can learn how to use Moodle to benefit learners.

We work with groups of up to 8 delegates on a one day course building a Moodle resource that can be used with exisisting students. We cover all of the following:

Adding Blocks
  • Glossaries
  • RSS Feeds
  • Calendar
  • Upcoming Events
  • Blogs
Adding Resources and Activities
  • News and Announcements
  • Peer to Peer Assessment
  • Chat Rooms / Forums
  • Quizzes
  • Surveys
  • Wiki's
  • Uploading Documents and creating directories
This is everything most new users would need to start using Moodle effectively and efficiently. Support materials and "how to" guides are available after the course and these act as handy reminders.

EPICT- The International CPD qualification for education and training professionals.

EPICT allows you to prove your competency with teaching and technology and attain a recognised qualification while you work. Hundreds of organisations throughout the United Kingdom are using EPICT to improve staff performance and enhance learning.

How does it work?

EPICT candidates present evidence of their use of technology in order to attain EPICT modules. The modules in turn build towards EPICT certificates.

Evidence is assessed by a trained EPICT Facilitator. TKEL is a fully accredited EPICT Training Centre with trained facilitators covering the whole of the South and South West of England.

Reliable, efficient ICT – can you manage without it?

Reliable, efficient ICT – can you manage without it?

One day FITS Methodology course for School IT Support Staff

There are now more than 2.3 million networked computers in UK schools, supporting teaching, learning and administration. Every school needs its ICT system to be reliable, efficient and provide value for money.

FITS (Framework for ICT Technical Support) is a systematic approach to managing ICT in schools, designed to:

  • support teaching and learning through reliable ICT services
  • enable better management of ICT budgets
  • help ICT technical teams to deliver improved services.

FITS covers:

  • reactive processes– responding to a reported failure
  • proactive processes– identifying problems before they occur
  • change processes– ensuring that upgrades and new installations run smoothly
  • strategic processes - designed to ensure that all ICT services are an effective return on investment.

FITS provides a range of benefits for network managers and technical staff:

  • Adopting a systematic approach to ICT helps to provide a better service to learners and teachers
  • FITS provides a 'service desk' approach which helps prioritise tasks and resources
  • FITS contains templates, checklists and downloads that can be used as they are or personalised
  • FITS helps to identify recurrent problems and move towards proactive services so the burden of reactive demands is reduced
  • FITS sets up logging procedures that support analysis of problem areas so it is easier to produce information to justify spending decisions
  • FITS enables a more strategic approach that helps to ensure that all ICT services are an effective return on investment
  • Using FITS makes the transition to a managed service much easier and more on their terms.
